Archibald Lampman was born on November 17, 1861, in Morpeth, Ont. Canadian poet of the Confederation group, whose most characteristic work sensitively records the feelings evoked by scenes and incidents of northern landscapes and seasons. Alcyone was prepared just before his death and published posthumously.
