WALTER DEXTER: three sketchbooks

Looking at the sketches you can see in them the magic of the Walter Dexter’s craft. It is such an incredible privlege to have been given access to this intimate glimpse into the workings of an artist’s mind. The random inclusion of a phone number or a reminder note provides further evidence that Walter never expected anyone to see them. In the book Walter Dexter,  Jonathon Bancroft-Snell talks about opening the boxes and sensing Walter’s moods. Opening the sketchbooks further emphasises that feeling of connection.

Included in this work are five of the sketches, reproduced in a limited edition signed and numbered by Walter Dexter RCA. A key guide is included at the end of the book to enable the viewer to cross reference sketches to vases in the catalogue of Walter Dexter: The Torso Masterworks.
